Launching August 10th for select US Facebook users before rolling out to other areas, Facebook has added a Watch’ tab to its home page. The page showcases videos made by a small number of content creators (by themselves and paid by Facebook). The content creators will share 55% of the ad revenue while 45% goes to Facebook. As the program expands, more content creators will be allowed to join. It is unknown if anyone will be able at a later date to add content and share in ad revenue though it is my opinion we’ll see that feature in 2018. Also unknown is if music videos will be part of this part of Facebook.
